![]() ![]() If one of these helps, please let me know which one I'd like confirmation that this exact error points to a specific runtime rather than telling people to try reinstalling all of There's no need to install the VC++ runtimes in any particular order, or to uninstall all of them before reinstalling. And to be clear, uninstalling and reinstalling is more thorough than repairing, as you've already done. Here again, you need both x86 and 圆4 but not the ARM or IA versions. If that doesn't help, do the same with the 2013 runtimes: Restart your computer after installing and before trying to download Sims 4. You'll need both the x86 and 圆4 versions of the 2015-2022 runtimes, but you can skip the ARM version, which is for a different class of device. You can download the newest runtimes directly from Microsoft: Hit Windows key-i, select Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, click on any version from 2015 or later, and select Uninstall. Once the base game is installed, open your App game library, click Sims 4, select Manage > Manage add-ons, and download only your packs, not a second copy of the base Please uninstall your current versions of the 2015 and newer VC++ runtimes, and install fresh copies. If you install Sims 4 through Steam, you can still install any packs you own in the EA App. ![]() But it might-if you get the same error, you might be able to tell Steam to skip the step and finish the install. I remember another player once saying they could elect to bypass installing DirectX 9 when it was a problem, but that was years ago and happened with Sims 3, so I don't know whether it applies here. You may or may not encounter the same issue, depending on the security settings and how Steam itself goes about verifying or modifying certain dependencies. What you can try is installing Sims 4 through Steam. It also means that you probably can't get around the issue on your own, so unless someone from your IT department wants to help, there may be nothing you can do as far as the EA App is concerned. ![]() I don't know how to prove it and am not suggesting you go poking around in the security settings, if that's even possible, but the fact that this happened on a previous computer as well makes this highly likely. The problem may be the security settings your company has imposed.
